Unable to create a twitter application because of mobile phone carrier? Here’s how to do it!

I got stuck when trying to create a Twitter API for an App I was trying to create. Chances are that if you are reading, you also got stuck here:

twitter api mobile phone solution

You are required to add a mobile phone to your account. When you visit the support page at https://support.twitter.com/articles/110250-adding-your-mobile-number-to-your-account-via-web and do everything accordingly, you end up at:

twitter api mobile phone confirmation

Doesn’t seem like a problem. But if you are a Non-U.S. resident, this is what you are likely to see next:

“Sorry, we don’t have a connection to your mobile provider yet!
Don’t worry, we’re on it and will let you know once things are set up. In the meantime, use one of our long codes. Learn more (https://support.twitter.com/articles/14226-how-to-find-your-twitter-short-code-or-long-code)”

Seems like a dead end? No, there’s a way out!

If you have a smartphone, that is. Just log on to the twitter site using your phone and use the mobile site. Click the settings tab and add your phone number (with the country code). You will immediately receive the confirmation link as well as key. Confirm it online and you are all set!
